Barely had he left the Safari Zone, he was back again.[break][break]

The moment he caught sight of the Zorua, he knew he was in for it—however, he owed someone a favor. It was going to be a bit problematic, since he had to find… not just one, not two, but three Houndour. Why three?[break][break]

One was for himself. The other two were for the League’s resident “Dog Boy” and one of the Elite Four.[break][break]

While this was definitely going to look stupid, at least he made sure he had more than enough firepower going into the Safari today. Hopefully he didn’t take too long unlike last time, though![break][break]

Slapping the bills down on the counter, he gets rolled four Safari Balls, before he got rolled four Safari Balls in return.[break][break]

“Well, let’s go,” he mumbles to himself, squaring his shoulders as he goes through the security check and into the wild unknown.

Gods, first encounter and it wasn’t one he was looking for![break][break]

Sighing, he knew that he was running short on time, and skirted around the Politoed as quickly as possible.[break][break]

He was looking for two, and this weird amphibious Pokémon was not one of these. He was on the hunt for a Zorua, and Arceus, he didn’t want to torch the entire place just looking for one…[break][break]

…unless it proved to be impossible to get, and then he had to get two Houndour for a certain ‘Dog Boy’ since the other had pulled a favor for him and had gotten him a few interesting things in his current possession.[break][break]

“Nyet, nyet, nyet,” he muttered under his breath as he put as much distance as he could between the Politoed as he could manage.[break][break]

Time was running short, and it was looking pretty dire.

Not too far away from the frog, a flash of something…purple caught his attention. He thought it was a Gligar, but he already had Scorpio, so…[break][break]

That was out of the question.[break][break]

Not until he checked his PokéGear did he realize—wait, he already had two of them! But… there was something really off about Hela, and the other one he inherited from some lady absolutely refused to listen to him, so he was thinking—was this one the one, the one who would listen to him?[break][break]

Hoping that this was the case, he quickly flicked out a certain containment unit and was pleased to see that it was his Magmortar that emerged.[break][break]

“Agni, you have one shot. Aim straight, okay?” he said to the Fire-type as the weird, sparkly—holy shit it was a shiny Murkrow—finally noticed them and came swooping down, intent on pecking Alexei’s eyes out.[break][break]

“Go!” he gestured, watching as the Murkrow spread its wings wide, ready to attack him, of all things—when a sudden peal of lightning came plummeting down from the sky. A singular powerful Thunderbolt had pummeled the Murkrow, crisping it as it fell out of the sky and landed at Alexei’s feet.[break][break]

“You aimed well. Thank you,” he said to the Magmortar, dropping one of the four Safari Balls atop the shiny captive…

After the strangely-colored Murkrow surrendered itself to the confines of the Safari Ball, they were off again. The Magmortar continued to amble along not too far ahead of him, just in case they needed to shoot something out of the sky.[break][break]

Fortunately, nothing of that sort came, although both travelling companions spotted something that made Alexei frown.[break][break]

“No, Agni. Don’t even think of going up against a Fire-type like yourself. You’d just end up tiring each other out,” he says, once they pass the Fennekin, taking a nap in a patch of sun.[break][break]

“Let’s leave that one alone. I’ll let you know once we find the one we’re looking for…” he adds, and the Magmortar lets out a displeased grunt.[break][break]

“I know you want violence, but I’m not going to have you incinerate the entire Safari Zone. So let’s go,” he continues, firm. With a resigned sigh, the Magmortar follows him away from the Fennekin.[break][break]

The next thing they came across had Alexei withdraw Agni, and choosing to send out his Lucario, Vincent.[break][break]

“Oh, Arceus,” he muttered at the sight of the Houndour. Now, he’d been looking for the hell dog for a while, but he knew that he had to get one for Kyle too, as part of the trade that he’d bartered for the Shedinja and that… that weird Electric-type that looked like a flying pair of garden shears.[break][break]

But of course, this first one was going to be his.[break][break]

The Lucario looked at him in confusion, before he pointed at the hell hound. “Take it down, be quick! We’re looking for something, but this one’s coming with us!” he said, before the Houndour had blasted the ground near them with a Flamethrower attack.[break][break]

Turning his attention back to the hound, the Lucario then closed the distance with an Extreme Speed maneuver, before slamming its fists into the hell hound’s mouth with a one-two Force Palm strike.[break][break]

Seeing that it was still standing, Alexei urged the Lucario on, watching as a Crunch attack attempted to bite the Lucario—but the dual-type had quickly Countered it, shoving it backward. A few moments later, an Aura Sphere slammed into its form, forcing it to its knees.[break][break]

A Safari Ball came flying towards it, catching it before it could react…

Not too long after the Houndour had been captured, there was a sudden flash of blue that caught Alexei’s eye.[break][break]

Wait, blue?[break][break]

What kind of…[break][break]

“Vince, chase it!” he called out, and after a nod, the Lucario tore after the flash, silent footsteps padding after the sighting that Alexei had picked out. Well, he still had two Safari Balls, but he was pretty short on time as it is. Maybe this was the last one he could find, for now.[break][break]

It didn’t take long for him to catch up to the Lucario locked in battle with a… wait a second, why was there a Houndoom snapping and snarling at the other? Was this the Houndour’s mother?! Checking his PokéGear, he wondered if he was seeing things—why was the information returning as ‘Zorua’, and…[break][break]

Wait, Zorua?![break][break]

Hoping that the Lucario wasn’t going to be cowed by the ‘Houndoom’ in front of it, the other Pokémon attacked, attempting a Feint Attack. While it impacted the Lucario, it allowed the much-larger Pokémon to get closer and catch its ‘jaw’ in a one-two Force-Palm strike. To the dual-type’s surprise, the ‘Houndoom’ melted away, revealing what Alexei’s PokéGear had suspected—it was indeed one of the more elusive Pokémon from his home region, in the flesh![break][break]

A Captivate attempt came from the Zorua, and the Lucario looked at it in confusion, before firing off a sudden Aura Sphere, catching it in the face before it could cry out Fake Tears in the dual-type’s direction. No way was he going to be cowed by the little crying noises that the Zorua was now making.[break][break]

A second Aura Sphere smacked it upside the head, and before a third one could be launched, a beam of red light saved the Zorua from further harm.[break][break]

“Gee, Vince, no need to go apeshit!” Alexei exclaimed, watching the Safari Ball shaking.
